Happy Birthday Megat Eusofe

December 22nd marks another year wiser of my everdearst Megat Eusofe....

It's Megat's birthday!!! We had a be-earlied birthday celebration for Megat few days ago, in conjunction of Lina's trip to KL.. Since most of us will be down to Pavilion, KL to meet our beloved Drama Queen.. Nad n myself planned to have a lil celebration for Megat with help of Fara n Lina...

After lunch, while lepakking, we excused ourselves too the ladies... kononnya... but we did tho... Then we go n get a lil sumthing for himmm... lalalalaaaa... Hope it worked!! n the cake memang sangat sedapppp.... Choc with orange slice... (x perlu tanya berapa RM ye Megat!!.. lol)

Had hella good time with all - Lina, Megat, Ray, Fara, Nad Hazwani (fka Rainbow :), Azim, Capek.. Not in pic - Adam (snapping this) n Lilo... Not around - Syuk... larikkkk...

Bubur Asyura in da House... our version...

Bubur Asyura (BA) is one of my awaited home-made dish, yearly... Besides kuah kacang n rendang..


There may be several versions of BAs... savory or sweet... depends on the state and origin..

As for ours, it originates from Alor Setar, Kedah... Initially, we were at Alor Setar several years back. Coincidentally, one of the days of our trip falls on 10th Muharram.. We were at Taman Muhibbah of Jalan Sultanah then... For every Asyura, the ladies will gather to make BA.. They'll collect money, buy the raw material, process it and started the making of BA - gotong royong concept!!! Siap kawah besar segala.. Once it's done, they'll placed it on a big round tray - underlined with banana leaves.. Then they distributed it accordingly...

Sucha cool concept, kannn... Do excuse my 'jakun-ness' as i hardly experience those culture, here...

It was a cool experience for all of us... Therefore, mum took the recipe and adapt it as our yearly do... But there are changes made as we did ourselves at home and we placed in plastic container, which convenient for distributions...

These are the ingredient that we normally use... Clockwise from the can are kidney bean, sweet potatoes, red beans, green beans (kacang ijo), yam, purple yam (not sure the actual name but sedap) and a type of soy like bean... Cukup 7 kn... If x cukup, we'll substitute to corn, banana, sagoo or anything that goes well with other ingredient.. xkan nk letak dageng or cheese kot... lol

All ingredient are cooked first... Or else it'll be cooked unevenly... Then all are added to the main ingredient which is tepung beras, corn floor, gula melaka along with other ingredients... The which mixture are initially caer, needs to be stirred till it's really thick.. This is certainly not an easy process as the thicker it is, the heavier it will be...

Once it is really cooked and well done, it is placed to the containers, accordingly...

Yumm yummmm...

Do ignore the calories, content of carbs, sugars n such once these are consumed... enuff said..

Sunat 10 Muharram & Fadilatnya

Hari Asyura is here!!!

Empat belas perkara sunat dilakukan pada hari Asyura (10 Muharram) adalah :

1. Melapangkan masa/belanja anak isteri.
Fadilatnya - Allah akan melapangkan hidupnya pada tahun ini.

2. Memuliakan fakir miskin.
Fadilatnya - Allah akan melapangkannya dalam kubur nanti.

3. Menahan marah.
Fadilatnya - Di akhirat nanti Allah akan memasukkannya ke dalam golongan yang redha.

4. Menunjukkan orang sesat.
Fadilatnya - Allah akan memenuhkan cahaya iman dalam hatinya.

5. Menyapu/mengusap kepala anak yatim.
Fadilatnya - Allah akan mengurniakan sepohon pokok di syurga bagi tiap-tiap rambut yang disapunya.

6. Bersedekah.
Fadilatnya - Allah akan menjauhkannya daripada neraka sekadar jauh seekor gagak terbang tak berhenti-henti dari kecil sehingga ia mati. Diberi pahala seperti bersedekah kepada semua fakir miskin di dunia ini.

7. Memelihara kehormatan diri.
Fadilatnya - Allah akan mengurniakan hidupnya sentiasa diterangi cahaya keimanan.

8. Mandi Sunat.
Fadilatnya - Tidak sakit (sakit berat) pada tahun itu. Lafaz niat: "Sahaja aku mandi sunat hari Asyura kerana Allah Taala."

9. Bercelak.
Fadilatnya - Tidak akan sakit mata pada tahun itu.

10. Membaca Qulhuwallah hingga akhir 1,000X.
Fadilatnya - Allah akan memandanginya dengan pandangan rahmah di akhirat nanti.

11. Sembahyang sunat empat rakaat.
Fadilatnya - Allah akan mengampunkan dosanya walau telah berlarutan selama 50 tahun melakukannya. Lafaz niat: "Sahaja aku sembahyang sunat hari Asyura empat rakaat kerana Allah Taala." Pada rakaat pertama dan kedua selepas Fatihah dibaca Qulhuwallah 11X.

12. Membaca "has biallahhu wa nik mal wa keel, nikmal maula wa nikmannaseer".
Fadilatnya - Tidak mati pada tahun ini.

13. Menjamu orang berbuka puasa.
Fadhilat - Diberi pahala seperti memberi sekalian orang Islam berbuka puasa.

14. Puasa. Niat - "Sahaja aku berpuasa esok hari sunat hari Asyura kerana Allah Taala." Fadilat - Diberi pahala seribu kali Haji, seribu kali umrah dan seribu kali syahid dan diharamkannya daripada neraka.

Ikang Celup Tepung @ ICT

One of the specialty of Terengganu is Ikan Celup Tepung. The local had commercialized it by making its abbreviation of ICT to be a commercial name... If has Shah Alam I-city, Terengganu has ICT plak... lol

We had all these as our late lunch @ Tunch (Tea + Lunch) meal... It's pretty filling n reasonable, tho...

ikan kembong goreng is priced at RM 2.00 each
- the fishes are huge n fresh

sotong goreng -priced at RM 6.00 per plate

All the items are really fresh and tasty... It's so fresh, i could feel the 'sweetness' dekat hujung-hujung... lol... Since it's fresh, it's really soft n juicy. It tasted so good, it's better eaten without the sauce, to feel the originality n pureness of it's taste...

for drinks, do ask for less sugar as most of the drinks are really sweeettttt....

We were inspired to have this delicacies when a dear friend of us, Edil tagged us on FB, on a plate of Sotong Goreng... They had it in Rhu 10...

Apparently it was a bit far from where we stayed. And we remembered that Dad use to have these somewhere near the beach and airport area. So we headed straight to Pantai Teluk Ketapang and found lots of choices here...

We choose Stall no 9 - Gerai Pak Awang as it was pretty clean n comfy... n the pakcik pun ala2 friendly... Furthermore we saw the dishes that belongs to the table next to us... looks pretty good... n it does taste really goooodddddd....

Then we took a drive along the reclaimed land of Pantai Teluk KetapaNG, by the airport
(not KetapaK as i how i mis-spelled it on FB :)

Jalang-jalang carik Makang

It's a little trip to Kuala Terengganu. On our way there, we dropped by Chukai, Kemaman to check out some local specialties which is so famous. It's a must tho... We had otak-otak, sata, pais ikan, keropok lekor and karipap ikan...

It's at Warung Otak-otak Che Wan... A really famous spot as most of the customers are from other states... KL and Johorean mostly...

Just take a turn at Masjid Geliga, straight ahead till u meet a T-junction... Take right... Warung Che Wan is located on your right... Opposite bungalows...

Opens at around 2.30 pm till dusk...

The otak-otak are cooked using the traditional way - arang!!! No gas whatsoever...

one good thing about karipap in Terengganu is the fish filling...
not the normal potato type...
a colleague of mine, Sabrina loves it so much, she calls it 'dadah grade A' lol

Then we dropped by a stall selling keropok lekor... Its made fresh and fried to order... Gosh!! it's sangat sedap... Very the fishish... Not like the ones in town yang banyak tepung jer, n so tough... This is so pure as the content of fish are aplenty... Harga ok lak 2...

As we reached Kuala Terengganu, we checked out the pasa malam.. True that all nite markets are merely the same... but we juz love to see other pasar malam of a different place and state...

We brought a traditional putu piring which is known as Putu Kuning... It yellow, made of beras... The taste ada ala-ala berempah di hujung-hujung... hahaha... A pack of 3 for RM 1.oo...

Glimpse of Joe & Citra's Reception

As written in my previous post, it was a big day for Fara's family as it's the wedding reception of her beloved eldest brother, Johari and his life partner, Citra... The event took place at Dewan Cattleya, Wisma PKPS...

we were like dressed way outta theme... lol

It was a pretty remarkable event tho... Not because we were given the chance to take charge... But we go meet all the wonderful people of our beloved DFC family... Adam, Azim, Fendy, Syuk, Capeq, Waty, Neeta, Nad, Nanna and Acap (i didn't leave any1 did i?)... Not forgetting my better half... Mau x meriah??? Segala macam pose ada...
