Breakfast at Pasar PJ

Hubs a some work to be done at Petaling Jaya on a fine Sunday morning... Followed him as it was an off day.. Thought of having breakfast.. Wondering where to have it..  (Adenium suggested to have lontong at sec 14 but was at another side)

Since i was in the 'reminiscing childhood memories' mood, took him to PJ Market.. The place i normally go marketing when i was in PJ. Yes! it was indeed the wet market but i remembered there was a section for food...

Just to share what we had :

Murtabak -it's so comel.. RM 3 jer..

yet so thick.. filled with lotsa meat n onion..

Apom

As far as I'm concerned, apom is an authentic Indian meal / dessert... A bit hard to find a good one... It's has some crispy edges (macam kerak) n fluffy in the inside... A little sweet... Accompanied with some kind of gravy.. Macam santan cair.. Semi-sweet..

ps : our family calls it SERABAI (bukan serabai as in yang comot n bersepah tu eh!!) but of a simmilar yet different type.. but Serabai xde kerak2..

 normal Apom

 Egg apom
- one may choose to have few types of egg apom.. Can have 'mata kerbau' n such..
Never had it before, so i chose to have it mixed...
Belasah je lar :)

 The way they make it...

the accompaniment - the container itself is rather authentic

  the specially made apom pan

Bet this is the man behind this stall.. Runs it with his children.. Heard from the lady next me that this is the best apom in town.. True in fact... Besides apom, there are other dishes such as tosei, rawa tosei, capatti.. etc...

The scenarios at the food stall of PJ Market
(of coz la sgt humble - pls x expect much)

Before leaving, we got some stuff :
wantan noodle...
so reasonable - only 40 cents each..

plus large yee mee, fucuk and soft tofu...

our home made claypot tofu... so lembut!!! yumms :)

Lunch at SACC Convec

Got a lunch invite from our dear friend, En. Syaiful & En. Rawi of SACC Convention Centre at their coffee house which is known as Westside Bistro.. Went there with my dear colleague, Fyza...

Personally, SACC Convec has always been significant for me... There were two events of ESQ and a wedding gallery.

Life

HIDUP UMPAMA RODA !!!

He was once my lecturer... worked in a 5 star hotel... doing well... and successful...

Life's an obstacle... went through tough times... and survived...

Met him recently at a flee market... looked so different i didn't recognized...

Seek my favor for a job vacancy... Gonna do my best... Talk to HR and hope there's a position that suits his qualification and capability...

That's the least that could do - for someone whom once taught me F&B (when i had no idea at all)...

May the force be with you, Sir!!!

Made in Banting

Banting is the principle town in the district of Kuala Langat (many people often got confused with Hulu Langat). The name Banting may have been tarnished lately due to some cruel evil devil that appeared to look like human.. Kerana nila setitik rosak susu sebelanga... huh!

To me, Banting a noble town. Be it whatever blunder happened in this town, the town is still noble. The guilty ones are the people, not the innocent town. It's where Dad came from.. and where he is laid to rest (Al-Fatihah)...

Eventhough I wasn't born nor live here.. It is still my hometown... I grew up here... I often balik kampung and still do...

As far as this entry is concerned, there are few stuff that I'd like t highlight about Banting... The foods precisely...

Bubur Asyura in da House... our version...

Bubur Asyura (BA) is one of my awaited home-made dish, yearly... Besides kuah kacang n rendang..

There may be several versions of BAs... savory or sweet... depends on the state and origin..

As for ours, it originates from Alor Setar, Kedah... Initially, we were at Alor Setar several years back. Coincidentally, one of the days of our trip falls on 10th Muharram.. We were at Taman Muhibbah of Jalan Sultanah then... For every Asyura, the ladies will gather to make BA.. They'll collect money, buy the raw material, process it and started the making of BA - gotong royong concept!!! Siap kawah besar segala.. Once it's done, they'll placed it on a big round tray - underlined with banana leaves.. Then they distributed it accordingly...

Sucha cool concept, kannn... Do excuse my 'jakun-ness' as i hardly experience those culture, here...

It was a cool experience for all of us... Therefore, mum took the recipe and adapt it as our yearly do... But there are changes made as we did ourselves at home and we placed in plastic container, which convenient for distributions...

These are the ingredient that we normally use... Clockwise from the can are kidney bean, sweet potatoes, red beans, green beans (kacang ijo), yam, purple yam (not sure the actual name but sedap) and a type of soy like bean... Cukup 7 kn... If x cukup, we'll substitute to corn, banana, sagoo or anything that goes well with other ingredient.. xkan nk letak dageng or cheese kot... lol

All ingredient are cooked first... Or else it'll be cooked unevenly... Then all are added to the main ingredient which is tepung beras, corn floor, gula melaka along with other ingredients... The which mixture are initially caer, needs to be stirred till it's really thick.. This is certainly not an easy process as the thicker it is, the heavier it will be...

Once it is really cooked and well done, it is placed to the containers, accordingly...

Yumm yummmm...

Do ignore the calories, content of carbs, sugars n such once these are consumed... enuff said..

Me - U = Blue

Didn't mean to create sucha drama in my blog... nor having a diary kinda entry... esp. having a crayzee tyme of fun n laughter few moments ago... all those are far from my mind...

apparently, a dear friend of mine, posted a link in FB... terus dengar and immediately the memories of my schooldays came flashing on my mind... i was (n still) too associated withbthis number...

thus commented :

i've been in love with diz song way back while we were in form 2 i guess...
dunno y... dis song mcm ada some kindda aura...
(bukan ada bf pun dat tyme... lol)

i can listen 2 it over n over again... non stop...
n now, when i listen back 2 it, i got goosebumps only by listening to the intro...

thx for bringing back the memories...

- to me, this song is unique.. probably cos of the equation thingy... downloaded n listening over n over again.... i love the chorus and bridge... (well, Glenn Medeiros was quite a heartthrob back than... lol)

With all my heart I pledged my love forever
You`ve got my word
You and I will always be together
There may be times we have a disagreement
This love`s too strong to ever let it come between us
I will keep this love alive
I will, because otherwise

Me minus you equals blue
Can`t imagine what I`d ever do
If it ever came to

Me minus you equals blue
I can`t stand the thought of us apart
Like so many hearts beating in the dark
It`ll never be me minus you

Each day I learn, a little more about you
And I know for sure that I never want to be without you
We`re gonna stay so true to this relation
Me without your loving is such a sad equation, baby

(bridge)
What we got can`t get much better
I will never change your thing
baby we`re so good together
That I never never, ever want it to be me

lalalaaaaa...

The 'Brain-Brain' Shop

Had a movie with at Tropicana City Mall with Ray, Megat & Syuk... At was an early one, after movie, we starved and headed straight to The Otak-Otak's Place for Lunch...

I've always loved being here. This is my first tyme here but always had in at Giant Kota Damansara. Apparently it's been closed. Sejak 2, dah jarang pegi Giant KD :(

What i love about this place are the foods and deco. It brings an 'old-school' concept... ala2 zaman dolu2... Just have a look at some of the deco that's being captured (with Megat's help, of coz :)

They have a set of Happy Family on every table... While waiting for orders being prepared, one can play cum refresh one's memory on the good old days... It's a set of card containing several families. Each family contains 4 members - Mum, Dad, Dotter & Son....

Besides that, they also several others such as congkak, toy soldiers, getah (yg lompat2) and so much more...

They even have Video Cassette as deco... Still remember how i always record my fav. TV shows on to these via a Video recorder... Then watch over n over again... Bestttttttttt....

So much on the deco.. Just have a look on what we had :

I had otak2 stick and steamed prawn otak-otak... Dunno why, the otak-otak stick doesn't seemed to be as fluffy as what i normally had before... It's kinda dried and small... Maybe my taste buds yang wasn't ok, as i wasn't well then... The steamed otak-otak was good but kinda small...

Not too sure what this is but it's really sedap... Macam spring roll... I loved it... The skin is soft, fluffy n not oily... Meanwhile the filling is moist and tasty...

This is dumpling otak-otak... Looks good but guess x sempat rasa kot... lol...

This is Mee Bandung Muar... Shuk had this... Not bad.... Cukup rasa and all..

This is Ray's mee Goreng Mamak... Sedappp... Come with fried egg and chicken wing...

The Chee Chong Fun wasn't bad either....

And this is Megat's Chicken Rice... The rice is well tasted and hot... the chicken mamang sangat yummy... It's large.. Meaty... Soft... Nicely portioned...

As for drink, I had Hot Ginger Tea to soothe my flu n fever... Guess the ginger helped eventhough i don't fancy ginger tea dat much... The cute part is when comes with a slice of cream cracker... So one can break it and cicah-cicah to the tea :)

It's really a cool place to dine in and hang out...

thx guys.....

Al-Fatihah buat Mereka

Well tonight's gonna Abah's tahlil arwah, for the fourth year... How fast time flies... Now its's been almost 4 year since he left us... Actually, it hasn't been 4 years yet if ikut calender masihi as he left us on the 22nd of July 2006... But according to calender Islam's calculation, it's almost 4... Mum will normally schedule it earlier than the exact date...

The kenduri will b held at our 'little teratak' at Kampung Olak Lempit, Banting. We only did it in Shah Alam during his first year kenduri... The rest, all in kampung... Mum has her reason of conducting it there... Furthurmore, that is where he was laid to rest pun :(

As I sent invitation via the family blog, an aunt (Abah's cuzz nyer wife) dropped a comment and shared an info i never knew and it somehow touches me :

"kak ct (keluarga Mbah Piah) said...

salam kpd warga AB..

kak ct nak kongsi satu cerita yang mungkin ramai orang tak tahu..

Abg Wik pernah nak jadikan anak kak ct (AB) sebagai salah seorang ahli keluarganya tapi apakan daya..

Kini kedua-dua orang yg kak ct kasihi telah tiada..

Alfatihah buat Arwah Abg Wik dan Mohd Firdauz (AB)"

Seriously, I x penah taw pun about matter... Maybe I was too young then...

As far as I can remember, I met him only once during a family gathering, way back in 2007. He was the MC then... Of coz we met before but this is more significant.

No wonder la when I see him, I felt something kinda significance... He was a fine young guy, pleasant looking, soft spoken, good PR and communication skill and definitely innocent character...

Never got to knew him in person... The next thing i heard few months ago, he passed away in his sleep... Btw, he was a final year UiTM student...

Well, Abah may knew lotsa of people, but only special ones touches his heart... Arwah AB is definitely one of the special ones...

Memories of Achik at IRCC

The passing of Achik Spin had given a significant impact towards the entertainment industry. As I seat n look back, I recalled that I actually met him in person before, way back in 2006. It was a collaboration event organized by Selangor FM. He was the guest artist with his duet, Siti Nurdiana...

It was a passing of another artist I met... After Allahyarham Hani Mohsein (met him somewhere in 2004) & Din Beramboi (met him during the recent Raja Lawak season)...

Semoga Roh mereka dicucuri rahmat...
Al-Fatihah...

ps : i actually have a pic with Arwah n Nana but for some reason, I didn't wanna incorporate it here...

I still Remember...

Eventhough I am not the one who work closely with Allahyarham Din Beramboi, but being involved with Raja Lawak 4 got me to meet him several times.

Everything were still fresh in my mind and I clearly remember :

- the 1st time i met him at Central Market during the press conference of Raja Lawak 4...

- how i used to see him every week and sat behind him during Gelanggang Raja Lawak...

- he actually wore a 'seliper jamban' to the studio for a live show :))

- how he used to 'argue' among other RL4's juries, Afdlin & Bob...

- his jokes, his smile, his laugh, his merepexness and every single thing...

But the significant part was during the final Gelanggang - it goes something like this :

"Alex... nanti kalu saya dah xde dekat Radio ERA, awak ganti tempat saya"

- everyone thought it was such a compliment 2 Alex but it had a tremendous significance...

Semoga Roh Allahyarham ditempatkan di kalangan roh orang-orang yang beriman.

AL-FATIHAH
