the Old Fashioned yet Modern Gents

I did a post on Marriot's / Starhill gallery's ladies restroom entitled the Old Fashioned yet Modern Loo... Found out that the gents is also of the traditional concept, but of a different material.

If the ladies room are using the windmill concept where one needs to steer the wheel to obtain water, the gents are using the kinda wooden stick thingy. M not too sure what this concept is called.. Juz have a look at some pix that hubs captured...

As usual, a staff is placed to assist the patrons... Of coz, a male staff... lol...

The water will come through the wooden tap and runs through the sink which are wooden based. If the windmill is using more to a mixture of wood and mostly steel, this one is more to the wooden material...

Similar to the ladies, this one uses towels 2 wipe hands and a bowl for tips is placed there...

Just compare the wall material... It differs from the ladies too... The ladies are more to a bricky n clay type... While this one is like tile or somekind of uneven bricks, perhaps... IDK...

But all in all, Feast Garden are simply cool n conceptual :)

MacDe (not McD) & Nasi Goreng Gunung Berapi

Hubs was in Kota Bharu, Kelantan recently for his tone excel wow referral program. It's one of his business thingy. He took a little trip to Machang to meet his downline. And there's this one restaurant in Machang which i felt so amusing...

It's Burger Mac De... And this has nothing to do with Mc Donald's...

The point they emphasize here is... it's 100% Bumiputera...

I can't actually get the whole idea on how the concept is all about. From this pic, macam ala2 kiosk pun ada. A kind of imitation of those fast foods cum combination of Burgers, Fried Chicken, Root Beer and such...

This fried chix is one of the specialties... and it tasted sebijik macam ayam goreng kfc... harga?? only RM1.90 seketol... nett... unbelievable kn... Gosh!! the thigh looked so tempting la...

Basically, they serves almost everything under one roof... They have burgers, fried, wedges, meggi goreng and more... all these for an affordable price... Imagine RM3.00 for the set meal... Normally, seketul ayam pun x lepas for RM3... Siap ada delivery order lagik.. Like too good to be true la plakk....

Gosh! If it's in KL or any big city... Guess boleh kena saman kot... But I dunno la about all these legal procedures... hahhhah....

Besides Mac De, there's another stall around the same roof which sells something that's almost as catchy as Mac De is.... Nasi Goreng Gunung Berapi... It looked just like a normal fried rice but it's tersangat la pedasssssssssssss.....

Well, this is Kelantan version of Mc Donald's...

"Sekali dia cakap arab da...
alep tendang wau... sarkis :D"

---> if one is not familiar of what i quoted, go check out P.Ramlee's Pendekar Bujang Lapok, again...

All in all, we'd like to thank Edil and family for their warm hospitality while Sham was in Kay Bee... From fetching him, taking him 2 the places he had 2 go, meeting those people, accommodating him, the list goes on n on n on... Plus those luvely treats and way much more...

Edil's Mum, Lil Ayesha, Mas & Edil

Best Friends 4eva :)

Thanx again, from the bottom of our heart...

ps: for once, I was drooling while doing this entry... lol

the Old Fashioned yet Modern Loo

During my visit to JW Marriot / Starhill for the 3.6 tea time promo (my previous post is referred), I checked out the ladies and found something rather interesting.

It's the concept of the washroom. It brings the concept of an old fashioned system. The tap itself uses the 'wind mill' concept where one needs to turn the wind mill clockwise in order for the water to come out...

It is so authentic - the sink's base are made of wood... and the soap dispenser are made of steel... Gosh! what a concept.... Very the zaman dolu2...

Nevertheless, turning the windmill may not be as easy as ABC... It has it's own technique... If u over-turn it, the water will not stop running. So there's a way of stopping the flow by turning it the other way round, anti-clockwise... Therefore, they provide a staff to assist.

This is the locking system in the cubicle. It's an ancient wooden lock... Where one needs to insert the wood to lock the door and pull backward to unlock it...

As a 5 star hotel, they don't use tissue or hand dryer to dry hands. They provide towels instead... After usage, just put the used towel in the compartment next to it.

There is a bowl placed for tipping. Tips are not necessary but as a courtesy, it's better to give some tips regardless the amount. Ray kata, if u x tip, means u r kinda 'cheap skate' lol...

Meanwhile, this is the ceiling...

I just lurveeee the brick concept of the walls...

This is the outer part of the washrooms.. I guess it brings somekind of clay wall concept...

Well... all in all, this washroom kinda exposed and gave a chance the 'later generation' to the windmill concept of water system as most of us haven't seen it live, except for the one in pictures..

On the other hand, I heard the gents uses another ancient concept of water system which i am not sure what... of coz i didn't check it out... lol

Despite the cool old fashioned concept, the toilets are not provided with BIDET...

It's only RM3.60 jer... kenapa? x percaya????

Well... Obviously ini bukan cobaan... Ini betul betul!!!

Went for a teabreak rendezvous at JW Marriot / Starhill's Feast Garden... At first, I was really skeptical as it was in the middle of the month... Nak makan hotel 5 star??? (please pronounce 5 star ikut cara Chef Roze of Hotel Mania... Gosh! sggt geds la dat fella... but best) I was told that the price was unbelievable... Biar betik si Ajen ni...

Apparently, they are having this promotion known as 'The 3.6 teabreak' whereby food and beverages are sold for only RM 3.60++/dish. The participating outlets are Shook! (tp bukan Getah), Luk Yu Teahouse, Pak Loh Chiu Chow Restaurant (adik beradik Pak Li) and Fisherman's Cove (not related to Fisherman's friend)...

We dined in at Fisherman's Cove... Basically it brings the fisherman and sea concept ambiance and food... I love the bamboo and net decoration... It's really authentic... On the other hand, this place was visited by Jalan-jalan Cari Makan...

with luvely Fara...

Lets have a look at what we had that day... The portion was not too big... But if one is not satisfied, they may always order one or two or moreeee... Furthermore, it's definitely affordable... So y not... Guess that's the whole point...

Fish Finger with Tartar Sauce
- Megat n Fara kata it's really fishy... Of coz la, it's fish!!! I don't know what fish they used, but definitely not dory yang murah itewww... The fish and salad sangat fresh, n juicy...
A personal recommendation for fish lover...

Deep fried Sliced Seabass (Siakap) with Thai Chilli Sauce
another good one I had - Another recommendation for fish lover...

Deep Fried Calamari with Garlic Mayonnaise
- tasted good and too heavy...
Just imagine Fara yang chumell had 2 of these...

Carbonara Pasta with Sauteed Button Mushroom
- the texture of pasta is 'al dente' (perfect term for a well cooked pasta) and the gravy is not too much... Just nice n x muak...

Potato and Leek Cream Soup with Buttered Crouton

Grilled Chicken Percik with Kyuri & Onion Skewer
- tender chicken meat... tasted good...

Pasta with Seasonal Vegetable and light Tomato Sauce...
(didn't know vege got season... lol)

Traditional Ice Kacang...
- What a large portion... But of coz, section 2 is much better...
Nevertheless, this is exclusive...

Cranberry Mojito
- Cranberry & Lime Juice, Mint Syrup
- x take this if u x tolerate mint.. I had to squeeze the lime to reduce the minty taste

Blue Hawaiian & Strawberry Tea - Strawberry Puree & Fresh Tea
(a must try for strawberry lover)

That's about the pics that I managed to capture (with Megat's help, of coz)... The rest are already consumed... Guess everyone were hungry then... I didn't had my lunch either...

The busy chef in action...

Initially, I planned to type the whole menu out and incorporate it here... Therefore, I took snapshot of the menu items... But guess I bukan se-rajin itewww.... So I just 'tepek' the pic of those menu items for reference... Do click for a larger image, ya...

All item for only RM 3.60++/ each (RM 4.14 nett)... Daily from 3-6pm... Promo ends on 30th June 2010...

Had this wonderful dining experience in conjunction with DFC's 1st meeting of the new team. Wow! Kelllasssssssss tempat meeting... We ol dulu at AnW jer... lol... But it's a good thing... Meeting cum makan-makan session...

The tense faces during meeting...

Satisfied faces after having some splendid, yet affordable meal :D

M not sure what's the relevance of this pic in this entry... But I love the lampu-lampu... Cantekkk... Megat kata macam my gelang-gelang... syyyyy :)

Another good one by Megat Eusofe... Besides the second last pic, the first pic and pic of the fish finger... The rest are with my humble T-300 with some of his help, of coz... And Fara got a new camera... Lalllalalla....

Whatever it is, I'd like to thank Rajan for introducing this place... next time i'll try Shook that brings Italian, Japanese & Chinese Cuisine... As per Rajan...

ps : do park at Starhill / JW Marriot's basement parking for a flat rate of RM5.00 on Sundays...

Medical Centre ke? Presidential Suite ke? lol

My Aunt was warded in KPJ Selangor Medical Centre, formerly known as Selangor Medical Centre... Went there to pay a visit... But was told to take my camera along as the ward is damn exclusive... So there i was, jadi jakun kejap... N i'm not ashamed to admit that...

I often come to SMC but hardly to the fifth floor... So as the door opens, we were like WOW! 'The Suites' katanya... The entrance itself pun dah so welcoming... Imagine the inside...

So we went in.. As I bumped with my cuz at the entrance, we didn't have to ask the nurse where her room is and all... Just followed my cuz to her Mum's room...

The corridor - great finishing n flooring...

As we walked in, we were startled and i asked my cousin :
- Kak Farah, ni ward ke hotel suite?
- Honeymoon suite
- Our honeymoon suite pun not this big la... lol

The suite is really spacious... Boleh maen kejar-kejar lagi... It has 2 sections... The outer part, which contains living room and dining... The patient is placed in a cosy room with TV and private bath...

The living area

the dining area plus TV

The kitchenette... with microwave & fridge...
i repeat it's FRIDGE!! not mini bar ok...

This is another set of flat screened TV in the room...

The Guest's Restroom

The patient's bathroom... with shower cubicle...

This i my aunt, Datin Saodah accompanied by Kak Ros...
She just underwent a laser treatment for her stone in the kidney...
Hope she gets well soon :)

Well, as far as my posts are concerned, x sah if i x snappy snap the food... Coincidentally she didn't take her breakfast that they served... According to her, makanan hospital tetap makanan hospital... Walaupun bilik cantekkk...

The breakfast - kway teow soup

The lunch - nasi + sup ikan merah
presentation wise - ok but still doesn't 'turn me on'... what more org yg sakit...

And this is Shaik Ahmad Filzan aka Amat...
One of the most prominent grandchild of the family...
;)
